A Discord server needs 2 boosts for Level 1, 7 for Level 2 and 14 for Level 3. Each level keeps the perks of the levels below it. Here is what each one unlocks, from Discord's Server Boosting FAQ as of September 2026.
Boosts needed for each level

There is no 7 boost pack, so the 8 pack is the one for Level 2. A 6 boost pack is still Level 1.

Without boosts, a server has 50 emoji slots, 5 sticker slots and 8 soundboard slots. The upload limit applies to everyone posting in that server.
What do boosts above 14 do?
Discord also lets you spend spare boosts on extra perks, 3 boosts each. Server Tags give members a 4-character tag they can show on their profile, and Enhanced Role Styles add gradient and holographic role colours. A server admin turns them on in the Server Boosts tab on desktop. Our 20 boost pack covers Level 3 and two of these perks.
FAQ
Do I need exactly 14 boosts for Level 3?
You need at least 14. A boost or two extra means your server stays at Level 3 if one boost ends early.
Does the server owner need Nitro?
No. Boosts count no matter who they come from, and the perks work for everyone in the server.
What happens if my server drops below a level?
You keep the perks for 72 hours. After that they pause until the level is back. Read what happens when boosts expire.
